The man who grew up surrounded by motorsports, the son of a legendary driver, who chose to forge his own path in a different category altogether instead of following his father’s footsteps and living under his shadow.
The man who made his F1 debut next to Max Verstappen and scored points at his very first race.
The man who carries on the legacy of Maria de Villota, an iconic female driver and his mentor that taught him single-seater racing, by wearing her star at the back of every helmet.
The man who broke Red Bull’s streak not once but twice during their most dominant era, through the power of sheer willpower and tactical brilliance. Once, in the streets of Singapore, with a strategy that no one else could have pulled off. “It’s on purpose,” he said, as he utilized the bond between him and his ex-teammate to hold off two much faster Mercedes. The second time in Australia, only two weeks after an invasive surgery and barely able to walk onto the podium.
The man who took engineering classes on his own time in order to understand the car better and provide better feedback to his engineers.
The man who uses a colour-coded system to communicate rain levels to his race engineer, memorized with every millimeter of rain correlating to a specific shade.
The man who has brought every team he has ever been at to a higher position in the Constructor’s Championship, and whose teammates speak fondly of every time.
The man who, despite always being considered Ferrari’s “second choice”, is a gracious teammate and speaks respectfully about the man who is set to take his place. “That's why, when I reflected on it, it didn’t hurt me that much. Because in the end it’s not any other driver replacing you, but the best driver in history. And in the end, if one has to replace me, let it be [Lewis],” he says to the media after losing his seat at his dream team.
The man who chose Williams, because he saw their potential for growth and their vision for the future, and chose them over teams who only wanted a temporary solution.
The man who was once described as “more modest and lightly brushed by melancholy”.
The man who is energetic, fun-loving and goofy with his friends inside and out of the paddock.
The man who is strategic in every action, determined to a fault and a natural born competitor.
Happy 30th birthday, Carlos Sainz Jr. We go where you go, now and forever.

minnie's markwardo fic rec list
my credentials:
i've watched tsn like 5 times
i've written a lot for it
i've read a lot of it
summaries and thoughts under the cut! lets go socialists*!
(*socialists = social network fans)
short fics (under 5k)
Never Quite Like This by wardo_wedidit (3k, au)
Facebook is a boy band who makes music critics love and teenage girls go crazy for, and Mark and Eduardo's genius is the band's linchpin. But there is so much to them behind closed doors, and Chris gets a front row seat to it all. Facebook is a boy band who makes music critics love and teenage girls go crazy for, and Mark and Eduardo's genius is the band's linchpin. But there is so much to them behind closed doors, and Chris gets a front row seat to it all.
for people who: liked daisy jones and the six and had a one direction phase and like fandom drama
this reignited my tsn phase in 2023, so bless this fic ^^
-
A Curve that Sets Everything Straight by Hecate (4k, fix-its)
Mark's heart matters. And Eduardo wants to see him smile.
Mark means so much more to him than all the other people that looked at him as if he was better than ice cream and world peace combined. Mark is brilliant and an asshole and he makes Eduardo forgive shit that he shouldn't forgive. Mark makes it easy to stay.
for people who: like epistolary fics, who want things fixed, who like to be in pain (just by this quote, doesn't it fill you with pain and suffering? read it!!)
-
There I Fixed It by lightgetsin (4k)
“You need a fucking keeper,” Wardo rages. “Someone apparently needs to make you drink orange juice and stop you from blowing up your appliances and spray you down with a fire extinguisher every now and then, for the love of God. Why the fuck don’t you have people doing these things?”
for people who: like to be taken care of, like that 'it's rotten work/not to me, not if it's you' quote, are shenanigans lovers
unironically, this is one of the funniest fics that is on this list, absolutely edible and laugh out loud
-
The Blue Period by stilettodandelion
The lights from the chandeliers pour from the ceiling, showering down like the roar of sunlight or rain breaking through crushed glass. All questions, Mark thinks. Nothing but questions. How many months would he stay? What paintings does he want for the rest of the house? How many of them does he need to cover these vacant walls, how many CPUs and TV screens and workstations to fill up this hollow coliseum? Or: the Great-Gatsby AU.
for people: who like being sad, who like pretty pretty descriptions, WHO ARE ART FIENDS YUPS
if you've read the great gatsby, you know they would fit. also its set in singapore so immediately thumbs up for me!
-
Girls Are Not Meant to Fight Dirty (Never Look a Day Past Thirty) by @almost-a-class-act (9k, magic)
“He turned into a girl,” Dustin bursts out, unable to contain himself any longer. There's a beat. Then Eduardo laughs. “All right?” “No, he – We mean, he actually turned into a woman,” Chris says. “Dustin isn’t messing with you.” “For once,” Chris and Dustin say at the same time. Or: Mark wakes up female for no particular reason that anyone can discern, learns a few life lessons, and figures out what he actually wants from Eduardo.
for people who want: mark to truly be a better person, who like body-swap shenanigans, who want to feel joy again
look this was really funny!!! it was very "your name" coded, but its a really good fic if you need mark to speedrun becoming a better person, its both really funny and really transformative
-
been at this far too long by @alakeeffectgirl
In which Eduardo learns how to argue with Mark, and Mark learns to be somewhat less of a jerk.
for people who like: funny fics, people who like epistolary fics
i tell you every epistolary fic gets my praises, yummy yummy yummy, its some push and pull if you want a bit more resistance, like mark shouldnt have it too easy to be forgiven :0
-
medium fics (under 20k)
The Greatest Trick by fairy_tale_echo (16k)
Mark makes a deal with the Devil for everything he ever wanted ... but when the Devil arrives to collect, he discovers he put up much more than just his soul. (or: What would you trade for the thing you want most?)
for: people who love: fairy_tale_echo, funny little fantasy aus, poetic cinema, chris moments
this is one of the most insane fics that this fandom has ever seen. the development and the plot will grip you and make you absolutely entranced and you will screech at your phone, trust me (also did u read that damn summary? thats insane isnt it)
-
pieces from my heart by indecentexposed (12k)
Mark gets drunk, watches the video of the depositions, and comes to some startling realizations.
“The thing is, Mark, when someone loves you so much, they would do absolutely anything you asked—sometimes the best way to love them back is not to ask.”
for people who: like suffering, want a good fix-it, want the most caring friendships ever
this is one of the first fics i read in this fandom, and i love it so much. it is so soft and sad and lovely and OHG MY DAYS. READ THIS
-
Call Me (any, anytime) by aqualined (inabstract) (15k, au)
Tech help AU. (Or the one where Mark learns proper phone etiquette and that you can actually fall in love with the sound of someone's voice—well, maybe if that someone's Eduardo.)
for people who: like comedy, who like loser tech aus (me), VOICE PEOPLE
hey. this is really funny. revisitng all of these reminded me how funny tsn fics are. but trust man. this is one of their most rom commy fics :D
-
In Every Line of Code by lc2l (18k, au)
Mark's parents buy him Eduardo - a state-of-the-art, brand new, tailor made robotic best friend - for his birthday. The only problem is, Mark asked for a laptop.
HEY. EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS. EVERYONE SHOULD READ THIS. YOU NEED TO READ THIS. if u read nothing from this list, can you at least read this. please please. this is the best fic on here. sad and sweet and lovely and bittersweet. the most like the vibe of the movie. THE BEST FIC I READ IN 2022. TRUST ME
-
let me shill if you want more depression, read my fic! hahaha
the last great american dynasty by @whichcouldmeannothing (3k, post canon)
You replay the scenes of love and strife, remember the shared books, the loved song, the souvenirs of friendship that will survive the vanishing. you know that memory can thrive on loss, and give them the lives you long to share, the news of the dear ones who have dropped out of your life. yet you wonder, wonder, whether any of these will survive. - Mark, Facebook and the things he's lost.
this is my favourite fic i wrote for tsn, read it if you want to see a man violently depressed and then depressingly in love :D
i haven't revisted the fandom in a while, but if we get to 200 notes ill make a part two and get somemore for ya <3
happy reading!

can i request for singaporean yuu PLEASE 🙏 honestly i don’t even know if other people outside of our tiny ahh island knows we exist 😭💔😔
I honestly thought Singapore was somewhere in the northen territory or in perth
Grim:
“YOU HAVE A BAN ON CHEWING GUM?! HOW DO YOU SURVIVE?!”
Is horrified when they tell him he’d get fined for littering.
Immediately respects their hawker food choices, though.
Crowley:
“Ah, my dear prefect! Perhaps you’d like to implement some of Singapore’s efficiency at NRC?”
Hears about their country’s world-class organization and tries to make them help with school admin work.
Crewel:
“You actually follow dress codes? Finally, some discipline!”
Mildly impressed by their ability to keep uniforms neat despite the heat.
Trein:
“Your country speaks multiple languages fluently? I approve.”
Gives them extra credit for bilingualism (or trilingualism, or more).
Vargas:
“Wait, you had mandatory military service? I need to see your training.”
Tries to get them to teach self-defense.
Sam:
“So you have entire food centers where dishes from all over Asia exist in one place? My kind of people!”
Wants them to give him a tour of every single Singaporean dish.
Heartslabyul
Riddle:
“Your country is known for strict rules? Excellent!”
Slightly alarmed that they can fluently mix English, Chinese, and Malay in one sentence.
Ace:
“You’ve got a 24-hour airport mall and late-night food stalls? I need to visit.”
Now demands a Singapore-style late-night supper at NRC.
Deuce:
“Your country has one of the lowest crime rates? I respect that.”
Confused about how they’re chaotic yet law-abiding at the same time.
Trey:
“So, what’s the best hawker center dish?”
Ready to take notes.
Cater:
“OMG, your city looks like something out of a sci-fi movie! That skyline!!”
Spams selfies with them in front of every cool place at NRC.
Savanaclaw
Leona:
“You live somewhere hot and humid but still function? Impressive.”
Now naps under their shade like a cat.
Ruggie:
“You know how to get the best food for cheap? Teach me your ways.”
They now have a shared budget meal strategy.
Jack:
“Your country values discipline and respect? I respect that.”
Finds their balance of chaos and order fascinating.
Octavinelle
Azul:
“Wait, your country is a business hub? Let’s talk.”
Immediately considers expanding Mostro Lounge into a luxury seafood restaurant like Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands.
Jade:
“Ah, I see you have a deep appreciation for fine dining and street food alike.”
Finds their food knowledge interesting and probes them for more.
Floyd:
“You call people ‘blur like sotong’ when they’re clueless? HA! I like you!”
Now calls people ‘sotong’ all the time.
Scarabia
Kalim:
“Your country celebrates so many festivals from different cultures? That’s awesome!!”
Immediately wants to celebrate Chinese New Year, Deepavali, and Hari Raya at NRC.
Jamil:
“You grew up with different cultures and languages? That’s impressive.”
Quietly respects their adaptability.
Pomefiore
Vil:
“Your country has world-famous beauty products? Bring them to me now.”
Immediately wants a Singaporean skincare haul.
Rook:
“Ah, the grace of Peranakan heritage, the grandeur of Gardens by the Bay! Singapore is a living work of art!”
Now follows them around, asking about history.
Epel:
“Your city looks so fancy, but your slang is so casual… how does that even work?”
Slightly confused but finds Singlish hilarious.
Ignihyde
Idia:
“Wait, your country has some of the fastest internet in the world?!”
Immediately jealous.
Ortho:
“Singapore is a leader in technology and innovation! I love it!”
Now wants to show them all the high-tech parts of Ignihyde.
Diasomnia
Malleus:
“Your country has stories of ghost sightings… yet you remain unshaken. Interesting.”
Fascinated by their ghost stories.
Lilia:
“Singaporean chili crab, you say? I must try it!”
Now demands they cook it for him.
Silver:
“You respect discipline and structure? I relate to that.”
Finds their balance of fun and seriousness interesting.
Sebek:
“You respect elders and traditions?! Finally, someone with proper values!”
Immediately respects them.
RSA & Noble Bell
Neige:
“I heard Singapore has an entire street of colorful old buildings! So charming!”
Chenya:
“Your Singlish is hilarious! Teach me all the weirdest phrases.”
Rollo:
“Your city is clean and orderly? At least someone here understands decency.”
Singaporean!Yuu Chaos
“Bro, this school needs some efficiency. Where’s the ERP for ghosts?”
“If NRC had MRT transport, we wouldn’t be walking everywhere.”
“You call that spicy? Have you had sambal belacan?!”
“I swear, if one more person calls me ‘kiasu’—”
“OI, who finish my kaya toast?!”
Welcoming Singaporean!Yuu
First Impressions:
Mexican!Yuu: “Hold up—you speak like, three or four languages? That’s impressive, dude.” Brazilian!Yuu: “You seem all proper and rule-following, but I bet you have a wild side.” Aussie!Yuu: “So, you’re from a place with insane laws, but also some of the best food in the world? What a combo.” Sicilian!Yuu: “You’re city-smart. I can respect that.” Romanian!Yuu: “You believe in ghosts? Any creepy urban legends you wanna share?” Jamaican!Yuu: “You give off ‘calm but secretly chaotic’ energy. I like that.” Southern!Yuu: “You mean to tell me y’all got an entire system for hawker stalls? That’s some serious organization.” Florida Man!Yuu: “So, your country is all about rules… yeah, you and I are natural enemies.” Czech!Yuu: “You grew up around a mix of cultures too? That’s cool.” Thai!Yuu: “I can tell we’re gonna bond over food. You got chili tolerance?” Vietnamese!Yuu: “You talk fast. I like you.” Pakistani!Yuu: “You got a foot in so many cultures, man. I respect that.” Egyptian!Yuu: “You have a ‘no chewing gum’ law? That’s hardcore.” French!Yuu: “I heard you have some strong opinions about food. Let’s hear them.” Québécois!Yuu: “You’re bilingual? Me too. Ever wanna rant about things in another language, let’s go.” Greek!Yuu: “You’re from a city-state with a lot of history? Yeah, you and I should talk.” Irish!Yuu: “You drink coffee how strong? That’s practically illegal.” Scottish!Yuu: “You live in a place with strict laws, but I bet you know how to sneak around them.” Italian!Yuu: “You got opinions about food? So do I. We’re either gonna be best friends or rivals.” Aboriginal!Yuu: “Your culture sounds like it balances tradition and modern life. That’s really cool.” Arab!Yuu: “You understand what it’s like to live in a place with a deep blend of cultures. We’re gonna have some good conversations.” Philippine!Yuu: “Do you also get scolded for not eating enough rice? Because same.” Myanmar!Yuu: “You live in a place where everyone follows rules, huh? That must be... interesting.” South Georgia!Yuu: “Your country sounds fancy, but I bet you know some down-home tricks for surviving city life.”
How Singaporean!Yuu Fits In:
Bonds with Vietnamese!Yuu, Thai!Yuu, and Mexican!Yuu over food. They all take their cuisine very seriously, and debates about spice levels get intense.
Becomes close with Czech!Yuu, Arab!Yuu, and Pakistani!Yuu over shared multicultural experiences. They all understand what it’s like to grow up surrounded by different languages, customs, and traditions.
Southern!Yuu, Sicilian!Yuu, and Greek!Yuu respect Singaporean!Yuu’s efficiency. “You got a whole system for running things right? Teach me how to organize my life.”
Florida Man!Yuu constantly tries to get them to break a rule. “C’mon, just one minor crime.”
Scottish!Yuu, Irish!Yuu, and Aussie!Yuu think Singaporean!Yuu is a bit too well-behaved. They’re on a mission to bring out their inner gremlin.
French!Yuu and Italian!Yuu are skeptical of their food takes. “Fusion cuisine is acceptable—but let’s talk about proper cooking.”
Egyptian!Yuu and Greek!Yuu are fascinated by their city-state history. “You built one of the most successful modern societies out of practically nothing? Impressive.”
Philippine!Yuu and Singaporean!Yuu bond over strong family ties and expectations. “So, your family also expects you to be a high achiever?”
Final Verdict:
One of the most competent Yuus. If the group needs to get something done efficiently, Singaporean!Yuu is the one to ask.
Has very strong opinions about food. They will argue for hours about what makes the best laksa, and they take offense at anyone calling their cuisine “just a mix of others.”
Secretly has chaos energy but hides it well. Aussie!Yuu, Florida Man!Yuu, and Brazilian!Yuu are determined to unlock it.
The “responsible” one who somehow ends up in shenanigans anyway. They try to keep things organized, but when surrounded by Florida Man!Yuu and Aussie!Yuu? It’s impossible.
Linguistic powerhouse. Can switch between multiple languages mid-sentence just to confuse people.

Can you link me to where you talked about VER vs HAM’s codes??? Idek what that means but I’m intrigued.
It was in the 2015 Abu Dhabi GP review. For context it was the last race in Max's first season and he gave an interview.
Tl;dr : essentially Max was aware but not worried about the mistakes he was making. About the conflicts he ran into with other way more experienced and established drivers, he said he was defending his seat and that was normal. My theory is that Max knew the cultural codes of F1. Hence he felt entitled to the seat, the on track moves, his entire behavior, no matter how criticised he was for it. He was confident and unapologetic about it because he knew how he could be confident and unapologetic in that world and for it to be okay. He knew how it worked because he'd been immersed in that universe from his birth and what he didn't know his father could explain to him. Also something something about nobody holding him accountable.
In comparison, Lewis was fucking stressed the first few years because he's not from this world and neither he nor his family knew how to navigate it. That's also why Anthony would say "do your talking on the track" because that's the only place they could do their talking at all, unlike the likes of the Verstappens. Which is also basically what he's saying in that video from earlier.
Here's the full developed explanation from the review under a cut because it gets a bit long :
He talks about mistakes he’s made and he’s not miffed about them, he says it’s part of the learning process. He talks about his altercation with Massa after his big crash in Monaco when Massa said he should be penalised and Verstappen was like “mind your own business” basically and he says no hard feelings but you have to stand up for yourself especially at the beginning of your career. Also in Singapore when he refused to let his teammate back in front. He says he didn’t want to move because he was enjoying the race and fighting for a position and he’s pretty sure it wouldn’t have made a difference in the end. When asked if he then thought he was in trouble, he says it just drives him to do a better job. He says he thinks in the end a lot of people agreed with him and it’s a validation that he did the right thing. When asked where he can improve now, speed, consistency, technical feedback, he says everywhere.
Okay so. Why did I mention it? Well it’s all purely my opinion so as always you’re welcome to disagree but I see a very stark contrast in attitude with Lewis at his debut. Simply because Max doesn’t seem to feel like he has anything to prove. He seems to feel like he’s entitled to being here. Which is good on him, btw, I’m not questioning whether it’s based or not. But he’s there, he’s confident, he knows there's learning curve but that’s normal to him, he’s defending his spot and he’s very transparent about that, he’s not worried about his position in this sport. It gives him confidence and self assurance and even cheekiness. That’s the privilege of his position as, first of all of course, a white man, and also as a nepo baby. And, well, there's nothing he can do about being white and a nepo baby so to be clear I’m not holding it against him, he’s using the cards he’s been dealt. It is what it is. But in comparison when you think back to rookie Lewis… That boy was stressed out. He had to make it count. He had to prove himself so bad. There was so much pressure. And that’s the cards HE was dealt.
In sociology, I once heard about study results highlighting that children from higher socioeconomic classes did better in school not necessarily because they had better abilities but because they understood the specific language used in school. They understood the logic of it, the way it worked, the rules, because the same language and same logic and same structure was used in their homes unlike the homes of families from lower socioeconomic backgrounds. I feel like it’s the same thing. Max had a good understanding of the F1 codes from the start. He knew the politics of it and how the game was played. And where he might have not known, his dad did, and could tell him. Lewis struggled terribly in the first few years, especially with the PR and politics part, remember? He hated it to the point it made him consider quitting. Because he didn’t have the codes, he wasn’t born in it. And his dad couldn’t help with that, which is why he used to tell him to do his talking on the track. Because they simply didn’t have the status, nor the connections, nor the knowledge, to do it in the offices and dinner parties like the Verstappens.
Also it’s interesting to note that part about Max saying in the end people agreed with him so it validated that he was right. Because that’s a thing I’ve mentioned several times before, not in this rewatch but on my blog, that nobody ever holds him accountable for his mistakes or when he showcases dangerous driving and I find it to be a problem because that means he doesn’t question himself about it and has zero reason to change. First of all, sometimes it’s been actually genuinely dangerous for other people and second of all I worry (yes) that it might hinder his development. Because listen, whether you like Max or not, as far as driving goes, he has the stuff. It’s undeniable. I agree with the journalists this season saying straight away he would definitely win a championship at some point. The way it happened fucking sucked but if that hadn’t happened he’d still have won titles sooner or later. There’s no doubt. But I wonder if he’s living to his full potential not being questioned that way. Although maybe him not being completely complacent with himself is enough, idk. I guess I’ll see where I fall on that by watching his career develop.

i see you follow taylor swift. do you lime her? and do you associate any songs with the falling fanfic? i think sweet nothing is one that fits very well! some off of folklore and evermore too could fit! lmao im sorry i just like to associate songs to stories and i wanted to know if you do too! congrats on your story its very good!
first of all, hiiii, so nice to meet you! I'm Dams 🦋🌻
OMIGOD I LOVE THIS QUESTIOOOON, UM SO I THINK 🤓
look, I don't just love Taylor - that woman raised me from when I was twelve years old. like I remember sneaking into the computer room in ninth grade, escaping class on a "toilet break" to go watch the premiere of Blank Space on YouTube with a couple of classmates, and being in the middle of a meeting to get the notification of Taylor posting about releasing the folklore album - like she's been there for me, through it ALL so I was literally waving ziploc bags in the air to catch the air she breathed when I went to her Eras Tour concert here in Singapore yay (It was on International Women's Day so pink pink pink pink but I dressed as Taylor off the folklore cover!)
Now, when it comes to Joel, I'd definitely think "I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)" gives me so much Joel Miller vibes, the whole sultry beat and the lyrics, it's purely written FOR Joel. Even "peace" especially, "this is me trying" and "cardigan" off of folklore are such Joel songs, the whole comfort of knowing that someone still wants you even after going through hard and tough times, it resonates so deeply with him. Leela still wants him no matter what the hell he thinks about himself, he still wants her even after all the fucked-up shit he's been through and done - "peace" is literally Joel in the flesh.
Leela is halfway between "ivy" and "right where you left me" off of evermore. Some of my all-time favourite songs off that album, and everything about it IS her. Maybe "Midnight Rain" off of Midnights and "Castles Crumbling" is so Leela-coded when you get into the lyrics. That whole push-and-pull thing that Leela has with Joel, hell, with the entire world, these songs capture it perfectly!
"Sweet Nothing", as you said, it is such a MAYA song. It's a lullaby in it's core, I can just imagine Leela singing this to Maya before bed and speaking of lullabies um HELLO? Safe and Sound? So Maya coded!
thank you for this, I had so much fun answering haha

If Sage were to live in a real world city, where would it be?
So, there's two different answers to this -
New Asteria, analogously, would map to an independent city in the sinosphere - places such as Macau, Singapore, and Hong Kong for reference. So if he were to live in a modern day equivalent to New Asteria, I'd probably pick Singapore because it's a major hotbed for scientific research in that part of the world :).
Then there's accounting for his background and upbringing as a character , being from a fairly working class poor family moving to a "big city" to get a job in research and development in botanical fields. I've coded him to be hdg-appalachian of sorts, so to account for the relative distance and work opportunities, he'd be living in a tech center like Raleigh, North Carolina, or Toronto, Canada.
Interesting to think about, yeah?
#not to say an appalachian man wouldn't move to singapore for study and work#hell I would#but this is also accounting for the fact that Sage is poor as fuck and spent all of his savings on a ticket to New Asteria#so we gotta account for that#ask the moonflower#sage mcclaren

SESSION 5. COMPUTER CRIME
READ: ICTL TEXTBOOK CHAPTER 4
OPTIONAL REFERENCE: L&T BOOK CHAPTER 19
‘Computer Crime’ v. ‘Cybercrime’: Computer and internet usage is on the rise due to lower costs and easier accessibility. As it is another mode of transaction and one that is heavily dependent on the interaction through computers and automatic agents rather than face-to-face meetings, it is another avenue for crimes to perpetuate. What we call “cybercrime” largely consists of common crime, the commission of which involves the use of computer technology, and for which penalties already exists under the Penal Code. Substantively, there is no difference between generic individual crimes such as fraud, theft, extortion, harassment, forgery, impersonation, etc. and their cyber-analogues. Only those that relate specifically to computer usage and materials, etc. are specialized offences for which the Computer Misuse Act (CMA) was specifically enacted to tackle. What is the difference between “Computer Crime” and “Cybercrime” and how are they treated under Singapore’s criminal law?
The Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act: The original Computer Misuse Act (CMA) arose directly out of the increased usage of computers and the internet as well as to protect certain features from objectionable activities. We will be generally considering the Act, its coverage and effect, and some cases illustrating the offences committed thereunder. To deal with new potential abuses of computer systems, the Computer Misuse Act entered into force in 1993. Thereafter, the CMA was amended from time to time to keep up with the changes in technology and to addresses new potential computer abuses such as denial or interruption of computer services and unauthorised disclosure of access codes. The Act was renamed in 2013 as the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act (Cap 50A, 2013 Rev Ed) (CMCA), and provided for penalties proportionate to the different levels of potential and actual harm that may be caused by an offence. For example, it defines a class of critical computer systems (“protected computers”) and provides them with enhanced punishment in case of an offence. This applies to computers used by important institutions including the police, civil defence force, the military, national utilities companies, telecommunications companies, transportation services, major banks, and various emergency services. The CMCA also sought to enhance security, deter computer criminals with harsh penalties, and broaden the powers of the police to investigate such misdeeds. The CMCA was amended in 2017 with additional provisions to deal more with cybersecurity concerns; however, in 2018, after the enactment of the Cybersecurity Act (CA), the CMCA reverted to CMA with the security provisions moved to the CA.
Computer Crime Offences: The offences under the CMA are found in Part II of the Act, from sections 3 to 10. All the provisions provide for enhanced penalties when damage is caused, but the question is damage to what, and in what form? Also, under section 11, there is further enhanced punishment if the computer concerned is a “protected computer” (e.g. computers used for public safety, national defence, hospitals, etc.). The abetment and attempt of any of the CMA offences also constitutes the offence abetted or attempted and is punishable as that offence under section 12. The extra-territorial scope of the CMA is provided for under section 13. What is its effect and how effective can it be in the cyberspace where many actors can be sited, and acts can be committed, in other countries?
Consider the following:
Unauthorised Access to computer material (s.3 CMA): Mainly enacted to deal with hacking, it has since shown that it can extend to other forms of modus operandi. Present some reported cases and scenarios to explain how the provision works and what is required to make out a case under this provision. Do the “knowledge” relate only to the act of securing access or does it also relate to the lack of authorisation? What constitutes “unauthorized access”?
Access to computer material to commit/facilitate the commission of other offences (s.4 CMA): Examples are fraud, impersonation/identity theft or theft of finances such as credit card skimming, Phishing, Carding, Pharming. Explain the statutory limitations/conditions to the scope of this provision and the need to read/couple it with a substantive provisions in other criminal law statutes (esp. the Penal Code). Which offences/provisions in the Penal Code are relevant here. What are the differences between ss.3 & 4 of the CMA?
(a) Unauthorised Modification of computer material (s.5 CMA): The usual cases involve the defacing of websites through the use of computer viruses or worms, etc. Explain the elements of the provision and provide real world examples of such offences. (b) Unauthorised Use or Interception of computer services (s.6 CMA): The cases often involve phone/pager cloning and the tapping of cable broadcast service for free usage or mischief. Explain the elements of the provision and provide real world examples of such offences.
(a) Unauthorised Obstruction of computer usage (s.7 CMA): This will apply, for example, to system attacks, e-mail bombing and denial of service attacks. Explain the elements of the provision and provide real world examples of such offences. (b) Unauthorised Disclosure of access codes (s.8 CMA): An example is the transfer of one’s password to another to gain access to a computer or network without permission. What constitutes “wrongful gain”, “unlawful purpose” and “wrongful loss”? Explain these elements of the provision and provide real world examples of such offences.
(a) What is the objective and effect of the new provisions of the CMA in relation to the use of personal data obtained through existing offences and the act of obtaining tools to commit CMA offences (new ss.9 & 10 CMA). Compare these provisions to the existing provisions of the Act (e.g. the current provision on abetment and attempted (s.12 CMA). (b) What is the purpose and effect of the changes to the jurisdictional provision, particularly from the cybersecurity standpoint? (amended s13 CMA).
Future of Cybersecurity: Cybersecurity is increasingly an issue that the government is concerned with. Although the CMA contained provisions for the Minister to act and for investigations into cybersecurity issues, the Act was amended in 2013 to give the Minister even stronger powers to prevent or counter threats to national security, etc. by taking any measures necessary to prevent or counter any threat to a computer or computer service or any class of computers or computer services. These may cover the “cyberterrorism” phenomenon. Due to the heightened concerns with cybersecurity, the Act contained interim provisions on the issue until a standalone Cybersecurity Act was enacted in 2018. Nevertheless, the CMA provisions continues to be relevant as a part of the arsenal against cyber attacks and to address security concerns.
Cybersecurity Act: The 2018 Act is mainly procedural and relates to CIIs, empowering the Cybersecurity Commissioner to investigate and prevent breach/leak incidents, certification of service providers as well as breach reporting obligations. The approach is one of ‘light touch’ and can overlap with the work of the PDPC and the police under the CMA.

My Taylor Swift The Eras Tour Film experience
This is the closest thing I could have since I wasn’t able to get tickets for Singapore and Japan. 🥺 If she ever decides to held a concert here in the Philippines-I am not sure if I can afford it.
So here it is, my The Eras Tour film experience. 💖🦋
I remember when I was in grade school (5th grade exactly) I heard about “Our Song” and I instantly got hooked. I started printing Taylor Swift songs, buying music magazines (from my own allowance), and writing Taylor Swift lyrics all through out my diary. I remember it was mostly Fearless and Speak Now (I was starting HS that time).
In HS, most of the girls in my batch dislikes Taylor because of her dating history. I got bullied sometimes especially I always defend her. I also got labeled as “weird” because my notebooks are full of Taylor Swift lyrics.
Fast forward when I was in third year HS, I had this “I was enchanted to meet you” situation with a guy in my class. But it was only a moment, yet it left like a crumpled piece of paper. In the same year that I had my heart broken, Taylor released Red ❤️.
I navigated my life with Taylor, her musics, her lyrics. I really don’t care that I got bullied because I love her and her music. For me, she’s the big sister I never had. Her music feels like a cardigan wrapped around me in a cold chilly night. The words are my cry for help when I cannot even communicate how I feel.
The day came when she released Speak Now TV, I also started queuing for tickets at SG. Unfortunately, since I don’t have a code or something, I wasn’t able to secure one.
It really made me sad. I did not survived the great war. I remember crying in my room, thinking I failed my younger self. I remember going to my workplace the next day with my eyes so puffy.
When she announced the film, my friendS (super plural because so many friends helped me because they know I was really really crying when I wasn’t able to get concert tickets), helped me secure the film tickets.
It was a great experience! There were so many people that the cinema is packed.
Some went into cute outfits, some had light sticks, and I was crying and singing the whole time because this girlie, who was bullied all throughout HS and college for being a swiftie, can’t believe that Taylor Swift is now loved by everyone and I even made a lot of friends from people I don’t even know before. 🦋💖
No matter what era you are Taylor, I will always be here.
Forever and always,
S✨🦋

Behind Each Secure Workplace Stands a Person Who Truly Cares — The FSMs of Singapore
In every safe office, behind the quiet hum of work and productivity, there's someone working quietly to make sure nothing goes wrong when it matters most. They don't make the headlines. They're not sitting at the front desk. But they're always looking, double-checking, and getting ready. These are the Fire Safety Managers — the unsung heroes behind the FSM service in Singapore who save lives before a fire ever gets the chance to spark.
What Is FSM Service in Singapore?
The FSM service in Singapore is a governed mandatory requirement for most buildings under the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF). It entails the employment of a certified Fire Safety Manager (FSM) to manage, administer, and ensure fire safety measures in specified premises. But notwithstanding the technical-sounding name, the essence of the work is very much people-centered.
FSMs are tasked with:
Carrying out routine fire drills
Ensuring fire protection systems function normally
Training tenants or staff on evacuation processes
Maintaining fire safety documents and inspection
Facilitating fire contractors in Singapore to perform maintenance and renovations
Simply put, FSMs are why most office fire alarms never need to be activated. Since they ensure the risk is always taken care of way ahead of time.
The Human Behind the Role
It's simple to conceptualize fire safety as a checklist. Extinguishers? Checked. Alarms? Tested. Evacuation routes? Stamped. But every box checked is backed by an individual — one working the building from floor to floor, ensuring systems function, doors open and close properly, and people are informed where to go.
Drako Fire, one of Singapore's respected FSM service names, believes that its FSMs don't just follow the code — they embody it. Its professionals treat every inspection, drill, and update as if it's their personal responsibility. Because to them, safety is not just a service. It's a commitment.
"I always wonder, 'Would I want my family in this building?'" replied an FSM. "If the answer is no, I haven't done enough."
That's the level of dedication that makes a difference between the best-of-class FSM service in Singapore and the others.
Fire Contractors in Singapore: Working Hand-in-Hand with FSMs
Though FSMs oversee and implement safety measures, they are not alone. They depend on certified Singapore fire contractors to carry out technical work such as installing fire alarm systems, maintaining extinguishers, and upgrading sprinklers.
It's a partnership — one that rests on trust, accuracy, and mutual accountability.
Organizations such as Drako Fire both provide FSM service in Singapore and licensed fire protection contracting. By having this comprehensive service, there is guaranteed coordination between all aspects of compliance and execution. With your FSM and your contractor being the same single-minded team, you have quicker response times, greater accountability, and more peace of mind.
A Day in the Life of a Fire Safety Manager
Let's imagine stepping into an FSM service in Singapore shoes for a brief moment.
By 8 a.m., they’ve already walked the building, checked all emergency exits for obstructions, and tested critical alarms. They log their findings, update the fire safety manual, and prepare for a routine drill later that week. In the afternoon, they sit down with a fire contractor in Singapore to review inspection reports and schedule the next round of equipment servicing.
With each step, the FSM is already planning ahead. Where will the panic start during an emergency? Who will require additional assistance with evacuation? Are evacuation points clearly signposted?
It's not logistics alone — it's compassion. And it's what makes FSMs office safety's unsung heroes.
Why Every Business Needs a Trustworthy FSM Service in Singapore
Whether you are in charge of an office building, shopping mall, hotel, or factory space, it is not merely about being legally compliant — it's about taking care of human lives.
A good FSM service in Singapore guarantees:
Your building is SCDF audit and inspection compliant
Employees understand how to respond in case of a fire emergency
Fire risks are detected and addressed early
Emergency procedures are current and regularly exercised
Companies like Drako Fire offer FSMs who not only bring technical knowledge but also a genuine passion for protecting people. Their clients know that when they say “your safety is our priority,” they mean it.
Conclusion: Safety Is a Human Responsibility
The next time you feel secure in your office, keep in mind — it's not because of alarms or signs alone. It's because someone ensured those alarms are functional, those signs are visible, and those exits are clear.
That someone is your FSM. And behind every good FSM service in Singapore, there's an individual who cares about your safety.

From Risk to Resilience: Top Fire Protection Systems in Singapore
Singapore is renowned for its high-end infrastructure, world-class safety features, and fanatically watchful government. Even in an industrial city-state, though, danger from fire remains a stratospheric and potentially doomsday threat. And that's why a flawless and effective system of Singapore fire protection is not just a matter of law—it's a promise of security and sustainability.
Whether a residential compound, office tower, industrial estate, or shopping center, every building should be fitted with an effective and professionally serviced fire protection system Singapore to reduce the risk of fire and its effect. A modern fire protection system is what is making risk resilience a reality nationwide.
Understanding Fire Protection Systems
An Singapore fire protection system is more than a sprinkler and smoke detector combination. It's a holistic and integrated safety solution founded on detection, suppression, alarming, and evacuation technology applied together with each other to prevent, control, or discourage fires. In Singapore, where space is an extravagance and high-rise buildings are the standard, such systems' efforts cannot be overemphasized.
The perfect fire protection system Singapore does three of the most important things:
Detects the fire early when it is not yet unmanageable.
Suppresses or contains the fire automatically.
Notifies people in the building and emergency responders for on-time evacuation and response.
This multi-phase solution minimizes property damage, injury, and death by a huge margin.
Elements of a Fire Protection System
A perfect fire protection system Singapore can have:
Smoke and heat detectors
Fire alarms and control panels
Automatic sprinkler systems
Gas suppression systems (such as FM-200 or CO₂)
Automatic firefighting equipment (fire extinguishers, hoses)
Emergency lighting and directional indications
Voice evacuation systems
Companies like Drakofire provide the full array of fire protection services across various industries and building types, including full coverage and legislative compliance.
Legal Compliance and SCDF Regulations
In Singapore, Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) requires every building to comply with the Fire Code. It requires installation and maintenance specifications of a fire protection system Singapore. In case of violation, it charges a fine, business closure, or even lawsuits.
Regular checks, functional tests, and quality documentation need to be performed to keep your systems certified and in function. That is why a trustworthy provider for your fire protection system Singapore is needed—not just for safety but also for peace of mind.
Designing for Spaces
Each building presents its own fire risks, and there is no one-size-fits-all solution. A contemporary fire protection system Singapore needs to be properly designed to suit certain environments:
Commercial Complexes: Need advanced detection instruments, alarms, and evacuation controls integrated.
Industrial Plants: Need heavy-duty suppression equipment and thermal detectors to account for flammable products.
Healthcare and Education: Need rapid-response systems and evacuation strategies especially tailored to safeguard vulnerable individuals.
Residential Complexes: Emphasize early warning systems, fire extinguishers, and readily accessible means of exit.
Firms like Drakofire are well known for creating custom fire protection strategies that are tailored to the special requirements of their customers.
The Role of Maintenance
A fire protection system Singapore is only reliable if it is properly maintained. Without proper maintenance, even the latest systems will not work in a fire. Bi-annual inspections, battery changes, sensor calibration, and simulation testing are what is needed to keep all in motion.
Scheduled maintenance ensures:
Early fault detection
Fewer false alarms
Fewer opportunities for total system failure
Ongoing regulatory compliance
Having a supplier who provides end-to-end maintenance services is the key to ensuring that your Singapore fire protection system is kept in top condition throughout the year.
Technology Advances in Fire Security
With AI and IoT increasingly the trend in Singapore, Singapore fire protection system solutions are far advanced today. You can now install:
Cloud-based fire monitoring
Real-time mobile alerts
AI-based smoke detection
Automated response interfaces
They bring pre-alarm warnings, upgraded handling of information, and quicker emergency response, further enhancing the efficiency of your Singapore fire protection system.
Selecting The Ideal Partner
An installation of a Singapore fire protection system is a massive safety investment. Having the right company do it is having it done once and done properly. Select partners who are:
SCDF-accredited
Experienced across industries
Transparent pricing
Able to personalize solutions
Available for standby response
Experienced professionals such as Drakofire offer decades of experience, technical acumen, and customer focus to each project, making them a force to be reckoned with in Singapore fire protection services.
Last Words
In a nation where order, safety, and good design prevail, high-performance fire protection system Singapore is a need. It's not just equipment—it's a disaster strategy, a lifesaver, and an asset and business continuity savior.
Don’t wait for an emergency to realize the importance of protection. Evaluate your current system, consult with experts, and take action today. By investing in a reliable fire protection system Singapore, you’re not only following the law—you’re protecting what truly matters.
